Here are five frequent sunscreen slip-ups that might be doing more harm than good to your skin.

Firstly, skimping on the amount is a widespread error. Most people apply far less sunscreen than the recommended shot glass-sized amount for the entire body. 

This thin layer provides significantly less SPF protection than stated on the bottle. 

Think of it like diluting your protection – a lower concentration offers a weaker defense against those harsh UV rays. 

To truly benefit, be generous with your application, ensuring all exposed skin is thoroughly covered. 

Don't forget often-missed spots like the tops of your ears, the back of your neck, and the tops of your feet.

Secondly, waiting until you're already outdoors to apply sunscreen drastically reduces its effectiveness. 

Sunscreen needs time to bind to your skin and create a protective barrier.
